I actually get the nausea and vomiting about 24 hours before the peak of the pain. Generally its the nausea and vomiting that make me think I'm pregnant. One of these days that will be the case lol.

But, this weeks episode started wednesday morning - woke up feeling REALLY nauseated, vomiting and other wonderful stuff that I won't go into since it is a family forum...

But, wednesday afternoon, I fell at work, but didn't hit my head, just wrenched my already wrecked back, a few hours later, started getting the migraine. So about 5pm started getting the pain. Then started getting fever, chills etc.

Woke up thursday feeling kinda ok, till I started moving. Then it just rapidly declined while I was driving. Drove right past work (literally) called my boss, told him I was going to the ER.

I've had MRI's, EEGs, CT scans, other wonderful things where they stick electrodes to your head to measure brain activity.. nuttin. Still unknown. This past month has been bad, but most days I can kinda keep it in check. Thursday's episode though wasn't able.

Problem with certain antidepressants is that you can't take certain migraine medicationss (paxil & imitrex for example is a bad mix) because they can cause what they call a serotonin storm. Potentially fatal.

I'll keep trying. For now though, with all the issues with my back, migraines are a piece of cake.

Todd - I wish I could lay down, but with my migraines ANY kind of pressure on my head or hair is extremely painful. Light sensitive some times, sound sensitive the other times. But never both at the same time. But pressure sensitive all the time. Kinda funny when I can't even touch my hair without it hurting at times.

Lisa, maybe that is a girl thing with the hair hurting. cause I know when i've got a migraine my hair hurts really bad too and it's everytime I've got a migraine. I've found that standing in a warm shower helps to stop the pain in my scalp so that my hair doesn't hurt, however I am also like you in that if I lay down then pressure of laying there gathers all that pain so I can only lay on one side for so long and I end up feeling like I am rolling around the bed and not getting any relief because I am to busy "chasing my own tail" as it were.

My head is shaved... so I don't have enough hair for my hair to hurt... :)

Well spent thursday from 1 pm to 8 pm in Lackland ER due to suddenly on Wednesday at 5 pm starting to see halos with my right eye around all lights- headlights especially. We thought well it is finals week maybe Ive just worn my eyes out studying. Wrong. Thursday morning came and halos were still there so off to Lackland ER we went since Randolph's optometry said if you need to see a doctor today go to er we don't have emergency services.

8 hours later and I had been examined not only by the actual ER doctor but also a doctor from the opthamology clinic at Lackland since the ER couldn't determine what was wrong. Many painful eye things later the optho tells me that he believes it to be a new symptom of my migraines. Um... ok, that would make since except my head wasn't hurting when it happened. Come to find out they *think* aka still waiting on blood results and visual peripheral field test to come back, that I may have gained something new called a Ophthalmic migraine.

From what I can tell researching it is a migraine with the eye effects I usually get aura, except now aura with halos but no headache pain until later or not at all. Which could be good or bad, since I don't have the pain as a warning it could be dangerous like it came close to on wednesday night when it came on, driving home at close to 7 pm when it was just dark enough that every single light I ran across was haloing.

So now we wait for the test and blood results to come back- they certainly took enough of my blood *shudders* 6 vials and 3 needle pokes later since the first two pokes didn't work. I was quite lightheaded and very ready to go home again. Even better Im supposed to hear back and follow up with them sometime next week oh and did I mention every trip to Lackland from my house is at least 40 miles one way, would have gone to BAMC but have never been treated as well there. Sorry for the long post but wanted to share, more when I know it.

Well I have had a kidney infection for over two months. Guess what...topamax sometimes causes "soft"?? kidney stones. Isn't that wonderful...When I went from 75 mg to 50 mg I gained the weight back and had migraines for a good 2 weeks...solid. So I decided to go off the topamax totally. Now my weight has stopped growing (thank goodness!!!) and the migraines are about normal. So I'm off from it for awile...hopefully my kidneys will recover...

23 years now for me.
People can't relate that dont have'm
cant understand how you would consider blowing your f ing head off to stop them
but knowing you might have a dud bullet that would'nt kill you only increase your pain
makes you think twice
i've turned into a germ'a'phobe as they (germs, bacteria) seem to cause the worst ones
clean food prep a must, list that what hurts you and avoid
avoid any over the counter pain relief because after awhile they start creating the headaches
msg bad
ice cream -walk it off dont lie down after eating
coffee -know your limit and be advised to kick it is at least 5 days of headaches
so taper off real gradual if you want to quit
i try to drink certain amount every day because over or under will get me
i quit anti depressents 5 months ago, been real hard but i am determained
sorry to ramble but i got no one to talk to about it
i wish for you all to have relief someday
