Depends on which forum you go to but for the most part, any public forum is going to have people who post only to flame. I find the so called "Professional" forum on dpreview to be the worst, filled with a lot of people who are arrogant jerks. Just have to ignore the idiots and not take the bait when they throw it out there.

Some of the forums there can get pretty hostile at times, but there's also some worthwhile discussions going on. And some of the posters at DPR are highly knowledgeable and widely respected in their fields.

I have to agree with the jerk comment and also agree that there is a lot of decent info from experienced and technically knowledgeable photogs.
I decided long ago it was the type of forum I would only care to read and never partake.

I have been a member their since 1999 I believe. I normally do not post but read through some of the articles. Here lately, I just read the front page on updates and hands on/ in depth reviews.

I signed up in 04, but have not really had much to do over there since signing up on the TPF. I also became concerned when I found that the images were not r-click protected.

I've not read the site much but I find the brand loyality wars to be funny. These people take it way too seriously. It's seems to me to be just the opposite on FM as it's a joke to the Nikon guys and the Canons are the zealots.
Don't pet the sweaty things.

Just signed up over there the other day. Haven't posted and probably won't. One question. Is there a way to read a whole thread w/o having to click on the subsequent posts? I poke around some but couldn't figure out how.

I still go there, but you have to wade through quite a bit of junk. The S/N ratio seems to be the worst whenever a new product is released.

I go there for the Nikon vs Canon wars and how the S3 is good enough, the S4 is good enough and the S5 will be good enough.
Plenty of reads to make me say, "Glad there is a TPF"
