I've been watching the series and enjoying the B&W photography. Some of the photos subject matter is morbid but the series has been very good. I like the way Ken Burns tied it all together by the stories from families from four different towns. Babe Ciarlo's letters were almost funny until you realized he died, such a mixed bag of emotions. Eugene Sledge's writings were also very profound.

If you have PBS I would recommend the series.

Ken Burns is awesome. I have The Civil War and I watch it at least once a year. I'm waiting for The War to come out on DVD. I've pre-ordered it.

A great series. Helps put things in perspective. I admired Babe's ability to write his family and let them think things were fine to help put their minds at ease (when he was in the midst of devestation)---a great picture of a man putting his family before himself.
