Hey everyone.
I was just curious about a specific subject and wanted to know answers from various folks on the forum.
I've noticed there are several TPF members who are not actually Texas residents. What brought you here?
It's not an argumentative question, I ask it out of pure curiosity. ;-) I really love the photos you guys post and the experience people bring, there's only so much to shoot in Texas.
I'm just curious if 1) you lived here and moved away, but was already hooked to the forums and couldn't leave or 2) heard about the forum elsewhere, via google, or whatever -- joined and stated because it was a friendly place or 3) ??? you post why
I know a couple of non-residents stem from both categories. For instance, elektro who has posted BEAUTIFUL images of Russia isn't from the states and I don't believe he's ever been to Texas. The images he posts here however are some of the best I've seen. He blew me away with his very first post here. Every subsequent image he's posted has had just as much power.
I'm assuming it's mixed on your reasons for joining. If you're a non resident, I invite you to post here why. I've love to hear more about your motivations or reasons for being a part of the community here. Tell us your story!
(P.S. I've been to all the photo forums on the internet practically. None have a community as diverse, friendly, and informative as this one.)

I'm from Washington state. I've never been to Texas. I had asked for some critique on another site and one of the nice folks there mentioned TPF and suggested I join. He promised that I wouldn't get run off because I didn't live in Texas. So far, I haven't, it's been a great experience and a great learning and sharing environment for me.
Mike.

I'm originally from Arkansas and found the site during the summer of 05. I knew I was moving to Texas, so thought I'd check it out. I imagine I'll hang around even after I move back to Arkansas.

I currently live in Arizona but was raised in Abilene. My immediate relatives live there, but I find it hard to get back except for weddings, divorces, and funerals. As I approach retirement, I do hope to return to chronicle some of my memories of the state and experiences growing and learning there.
Seeing the posts at TPF allows me to live in the state vicariously (and cheaply). | | | |

My roommates brother is on here and told me and my roommate about it. And, i completely blame him for my new camera addiction cyberstudd, or whatever his name is on here haha.
I've been to TX a few times, I really like it and considered moving down there sometime if the job opportunity is right.

I'm in Louisiana and just stumbled onto this site. I think that this site is one of the best ones out there as far as help, information, and general friendliness. I do wish I lived closer to Houston so that I could participate in some of the workshops that have seen being offered. I cannot find anything in Louisiana to deal with clubs or other forums.
