Help! - 10-11-2007, 02:28 PM

I can't get any of my zipped files to open and they are now showing a PS icon by each one even though they still have the .zip at the end of the fine name. What have I done?
Thanks

Have you tried to right click on them and choose open with to reassociate your zip program?

It was working great and then about a week or so ago it started doing this so I know I or my kids did something to change it.
Any advise?

Go to your control panel and look at your installed programs to see if it is still there. It is probably winzip or something similar. If it is not then you may need to reinstall something. Windows is supposed to be able to handle zip files but sometimes gets hokey.

Ok I have searched for winzip as I assumed that is what it would be and I can't find it. I will go into the control panel and see if it missed it. thanks Chris

If you can't find it go to two-cows or c-net and they usually have a free download of winzip. Try installing that and see if it fixes your problem.

XP has a "zip function" built into to it. maybe the file association got hosed up

right click on a .zip file and chose properties

select the change button in the Type of file section

chose the "Compressed (zipped) Folders" option, this should get things back to normal

or you can download win zip or WinRAR archiver

I can't find the compressed folder. Would it be inside a different one?

im not sure....
but try this MS link
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306531

Winzip is free, but ask you to pay. Same with WinRAR. its free but it keeps bugging you to register it or pay for it.

Sem
I still haven't decided between Port Aransas or Downtown.
I have one confirmed model and that is it. The other one still hasn't found her gown.
So the one we have is a white formal dress but not a wedding dress.
I am leaning more towards downtown though. I will decide after this weekend, As I am shooting some engagements there and will make the final decision then. Do you know of anyone who whould model?
