Just wondering if anyone knows of a "Kalifornia" version of TPF.
When we moved here two years ago, a friend that I used to shoot with alot gave me this link as a joke (saying, the average age on everyone there is probably dead, which we all know ain't true). TPF's been one of the best resources for info on get-togethers and where to shoot.

Ken is right.... www.CaliforniaPhotoForum.com is open and is available.
It does look a lot like TPF doesn't it... In fact it does so because I also own and admin it. Hehe. Cat's out of the bag!
I have kept it quiet here on TPF because I am trying to build it's own California member base and was afraid that if I mentioned it here that many TPF'ers would register to show their support when in fact that may do more harm instead. I didn't want a too much of a Texas based influence there since we're still trying to establish a good base of California photographers.

If I go over to CPF and start talking crap and end up getting banned, that won't affect my membership here will it?

Very cool Abel, looks like a neat place! Hopefully you'll have some good photographers join in pretty soon!
Well, that except for Marc Kurth, who's work I've seen before. He is excellent!

Looks like this would be a great resource. Can I view all the non-premium posts without a login?

-Jim | Jim... yes as of now the forum is open to public viewing.... as was TPF in its early day.
Once we get a certain amount of exposure, content and membership the forum will be locked up to registered members only just like TPF is.
In fact if you travel to CA and have photos and info to share then you are more than welcome to register there as well... no problemo.

This is it... Texas and California only.
I love the regional only concept... It's so much more fun to meet other area photographers and to view photos from other people that I could easily get to within a days drive or so.
Having a world based forum much like so of those others out there doesnt really appeal to me. Sure theyre huge and have 100,000+ members but that goes completely against what I wanted to achieve in the first place. TPF will always remain Texas based and CPF will always remain on its own for California photogs..

I guess the word "duh!!!" would be in order.
Nice job, Abel!
FWIW, this is something that's really needed there - to help connect photographers and set up weekend shoots and stuff. 'course, they'd be better off if they moved to Texas where it's lots more friendly.

we met some great people from california during our honeymoon trip and once i told them about CPF they were very excited to finally get something more regional.
It will take some time to get it built up but it will happen. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
