The official flyer these codes come from does state the are only valid until November 1. Sometimes the codes continue to work for longer periods than they are advertised, although even if they do expire, there will be new codes offered on new flyers distributed at different conventions.

Besides, I checked them out to see how they worked and see what the all great discount was all about. I found that discount code did not get me a discount at all....it was $40.00 higher with the code...LOL
Never the less...we banned someone based on this once before...Not sure why we allow it now..

Never the less...we banned someone based on this once before...Not sure why we allow it now.. | I just reported the thread to the board moderators with the message.
Abel probably doesn't know about this thread, or he's mad at B&H. One or another.
Abel made a rule in the buy&sell forum forbidding selling of "software" because he fears people might sell pirated versions of Photoshop and other things.
When I reported this post, I compared this post to that situation.
What if I started a thread right now saying "Hey Guys, I just bought Adobe Photoshop CS3. Here's my serial #".... it's no worse than posting B&H discount codes, right?
I mean, discount codes are intended for people who go to trade shows, or pay to go to certain functions that B&H sponsors.. so I don't think it's right.... I mean unless B&H condones these codes for mass consumption, it'd seem wrong to post them.

Mr. Longoria,
I looked up Longoria, Texas, and for some reason, my map program keeps pointing to Brooklyn, New York. Can you please help me with locating this town? I'm about to toss this piece of garbage defective software and order something that'll actually work!
Anyone got a B&H code for map programs??

And in reference to his "homepage" in his profile... I've never even been to Kansas. I guess he doesn't realize that there could be more than one Abel Longoria in the entire US.

[Just my opinion.] (Just another reason to not purchase from B & H, for me at least.) How can they or anyone else, even presume to control what individuals post on this or any other forum, when the information posted is free and available to the general public??
Abel does a great job of regulating what happens here, in conjunction with the moderators. He can't be expected to be on here 24/7 policing threads and especially a thread such as this, where no member is inclined to report it...it is a discount code! Damn, why would people report something that might save them some cash??

Discount codes are just that, discounts on products and in order to use them you have to spend money. Whereas the serial number allows anyone to download a pirated copy of the software and use it for free. Poor analogy, IMO.

But wasn't it stated that the codes were for those who actually attended the convention etc... Not for every tom, dick and harry?
I mean to me I see B&H in the future no longer offering discount.

I mean to me I see B&H in the future no longer offering discount. | Quite honestly, when you hand out catalogs with discount codes to convention attendants, it is complete feasible for those individuals to SHARE the wealth, so to speak with others. It would be completely unreasonable to to think that the codes would not get passed around. If B & H only wants those people at the convention to use the codes, they need to devise a method to prevent those codes from being shared. It can be done.
Trust me, B & H isn't that concerned with others using those codes. If they were, they would be doing something in the first place to prevent every "tom, dick and harry" from using them. $$ is $$ to them. Their business is based on volume.

I've seen B&H discount codes crawling around the internet long before I ever knew there was a TPF.
It's naive to believe that B&H is hurt by the sales increase they experience over other vendors when someone on the fence discovers and uses one of their codes.
I attended a seminar earlier this year that they sponsored. Received a B&H booklet full of product and codes. One of the more unusual items I was interested had a code that didn't work. No big deal.
Regarding the seminar; Now you can call me naive. I did not expect to show up and find a gazillion vendors hawking software and books like street market in Hong Kong.
So whether or not these codes are 'intended' for people that pay to attend a seminar and get bombarded by sales people or not, if the codes in the wild were truly an issue for B&H they wouldn't have them at all or they would find another way to make them available to seminar attendees.
Let me see, Increase my volume sales by using a discount gimmick that keeps people coming back for more, yeah.., I'd have to put a stop to that right away. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
