Yes.., but I believe the 5D came out after it and has similiar IQ but the 5D might possible have better noise handling at high ISO.

I haven't taken the time lately to compare their reviews and look at various forum comparisons, so I can't elaborate on which is the better choice.

The basic differences are the number of AF points, build of the body, size of the body and life of the shutter.

You are correct, the body build as well as the AF points are well worth IMO the extra $$.

But I own a 5D and love it! I used to shoot Nikon, and well, they are trying but no cigar yet! They needed to make the D300 full frame.....I know they are supposed to have other models, but until then its vaporware! 5D is in my hands now, and Canon makes very nice glass to boot.

I'd have to agree that the body build and the AF points are worth the extra $$, but that will have to be at a later date for me.., like sometime after the 1Ds Mk III is available.

Don't feel too bad. If Sergio (photosbysergio) hadn't let me put his on my 5D to see what it could do on a FF body I wouldn't have been anywhere close to buying one.

After seeing how crisp the detail is on the images I knew I'd have to buy one.
