For me it has been about 8 to 9 years. I am back to wearing glasses a lot of the time, especially for distance. But my lenses are nothing like the half-inchers I used to wear.
I also had it done 6 years ago and it worked for a few years. I could tell my vision was deteriorating over the last 2 years and it was confirmed recently so I am back to glasses.

I will probably wait for a couple of years and have the lens replacement option instead of a re-do on the lasik.

People who are reporting deterioration... how old were you when you had the surgery?

I was 41 when I had it done. They often recommend a retouching. My package didn't include that, although some do. So you'd have little or no cost for a do-over.

I was 22...they told me at the place they wouldn't do it any younger than that. However mine technically isn't a deterioration but the astigmatism was added in there

I've done it and would do it again. First time when I was 24 and then redid my left eye last year.
When you do it in your 20's they say you will need to have it done again.

My doc was telling me to wait until 30's... I don't know if I can hold out that long though. I can't see jack without my contact in and my glasses suck.

Ditto. Not to mention my night vision became worse after my surgery. If I had to do it all over again I probably wouldn't do it knowing what I know now.

I'm deathly afraid of LASIK also. The way I figure it, if the lab screws up my glasses, they can keep remaking my prescription until they get it right. One "oops" with LASIK and there ain't no fixin' that! And since I'm near-sighted also, I'd still need a prescription for at least reading, so, what's the point?

If I ever develop a cataract, I'll get a Crystal-Lens replacement and get both near and far sightedness corrected permanently at the same time.

sorry for the delayed response on this. I am going to get this done, probably in the next month. Thanks for all of the feedback.
