number of frames ??? - 10-29-2007, 03:54 PM

Trying to get a plan (goal) together for a shoot … with no experience in this I was looking for some guidance. I will be shooting a neighbors 1 month old baby on Friday and my cousins Engagement session on Sunday. These will be my first two (semi-real) shoots.

I know there in no right answer and I plan on talking to each before the shoot … but my question is on the number of frames per session.

How many different poses?
How many shots per pose?

I think most of ya’ll go into the shoot with a goal … can you share some ideas for a starting point …
thanks

Well on e-sessions I shoot on a two hour session, I shoot about 5 main poses with 2 or 3 variations of the 5 main poses and at least 3 shoots per pose and variation. So we are looking at about 45 photos at least.
Now for babies I make no promises because babys are so unpredictable I shoot for the hours booked and I try to shoot till I know I got at least 15 great shoots.

On children (babies) I shoot until I have ten salable (good) images, for an engagement about six salable and one dynamite shot.

On a child it might take 100 shots to get ten good ones. On the couple it probably won't take that many unless the guy is a dud.
