But I hear the whiners in VA Beach starting up again.

It happens. I was Stationed out at Oceana and on a carrier from 88 to 91. The F-18's had a bad rap for the sparrow missiles "detaching" during a landing on an aircraft carrier. I seen it happen a few times and we had a 500lb practice (inert) bomb "detach" during a landing as well from an A-6E. Those are moments where you can actually tell your heart stopped beating for 2 seconds.

One of the A-6E's I maintained had the canopy jettison off @ 30,000 ft and land in someones back yard in Virginia Beach in late 1989.

virginia pilot said that the bomb was only 10lbs.. hit a wall at a warehouse on London Bridge road, out the back gate I think. and yes the whiners were starting.. the online paper had 18 comments on the article as of 10 min ago...
