Different twist on an old scam - 11-02-2007, 10:32 AM

I love the closing signature "Regards, Internal Revenue Service"

The link went to a folder on kellycoston.net. Their site has probably been infiltrated by some hacker.

Ohhhh... make me shiver "Deliberate wrong inputs are criminally pursued and indicated." I have never been indicated. Does that hurt?

I wonder if the IRS has a spoof or phishing email address.

Quote:
After the last 3 year calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that
you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $343.56.
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 3-6 days in order to
process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons.
For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

To access the form for your tax refund, please click here

Note: For security reasons, we will record your ip-address, the date and time.
Deliberate wrong inputs are criminally pursued and indicated.

Regards,
Internal Revenue Service

The primary clue that this is bogus is they claim processing will only take 3-6 days! Now, if they had said: months, or even, years, it would be more credible.

I just got an IRS scam letter myself. The link said IRS.gov, but the code said it was going to France.
