Christmas movie warning! "Deck the Halls" - 11-06-2007, 09:56 PM

Here is a little Christmas movie warning for those who have little ones and want to watch a holiday movie. I am so sick of the crap comming out of Hollywood. Its know wonder this world has no morals anymore! The title of this crap that came out at Blockbuster today is "Deck the Halls" rated PG. A quote from the-Film Advisory Board. (they should be ashamed) " A family comedy that's a true holiday treasure" Yea right, if you're related to Charlie Manson maybe ! If you like you kids to see crossdressing sherrifs and watch two dads lust over thier own daughters, then this movie is for you. So dam rediculus that they can not make a Christmas comedy for the family without sexual inuendos. I don't recommend this movie to anyone. Stupid and pointless a waste of my time and I wish I watched this PG movie alone before I had my family sit down with popcorn!

Well, sounds like your typical Danny DeVito movie...

Try out a Clear Play dvd unit. It does a great job of filtering out objectionable (you set the parameters) material form most dvd's. You can get them at Target for $49 or order them online at www.clearplay.com.

We get to watch movies during our Saturday night "family night" that we never would have let our kids watch before. You still have to be selective but this has really helped.

Thanks for the heads up about the movie. Of course it looks innocent enough but PG movies these days are like R moveis of my childhood. Thanks MPAA!

Dont you know it, I remember when War Games was PG-13 and E.T. was P.G. and Hooper was like R etc...T.V. and Movie Ratings have hit an all time low. I liked the R rating so I could be with adults, and watch a show in peace, now I have to wade through the kids just to see movies cause of the lower ratings movies are getting.

Argh...

Our "ritual" around Christmas is watching The Santa Clause (Tim Allen). Except for a couple of very mild adult comments (TA makes reference to sleeping "naked--butt naked", and he makes a pass at an attractive woman dressed in a short skirt and high heels), it's a very funny movie. TA is hilarious in it.

True, but on the other hand if they would have had movie ratings back in your grandfather's day, then even seeing a womans calf might garner an "R" rating.

Well, the rating says 'Rated PG for some crude and suggestive humor, and for language.' which sounds to be what you are complaining that you saw in it.

Isn't that what the PG bit means ?

'A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision.'

I agree. If the world today would take responsibility for their actions instead of passing the buck, the world would be a better place.

C'mon, it was a Chistmas movie! A true Holiday treasure for the whole family, lol.. True garbage. I agree with the right to chose to watch what you want, but don't lie about the movie and say its a holiday treasure. Maybe for the freaks in Hollywood but not for my family. People just don't care about the kids anymore they just want sales, sales & more sales! Just my 2 cents anyway. Thought I would help another family from having thier kid see a grown man in pink panties during a Christmas movie.

Chris, I'm with you 100 percent on this. You wouldn't believe the restraint I'm practicing right now from typing a diatribe against the entertainment industry. It would possibly get my forum membership temporarily suspended. LOL

Thanks for the review, Chris. I'll pass it on to my wife so she doesn't decide to buy it for the grankids to watch.
