Good ole Roger ain't playing for the Astros but he might be ready to start his personal-services contract with the team.

Ah yes, Ed Wade is a good buddy of Tal Smith.
Bourn's record is anything but steller, but Wade thinks he can give us what we need in center field. Only time will tell, but I doubt it. In fact I don't see where he gives us anything over Bruntlett. Looks like we better get ready to really hang in there next year, Sonny.

UGH. . . I know Lidge has his faults. . .but he was still good. And Bruntlett was a good all around player. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense. . . .

On another note about baseball. . . What about A -Rod wanting 350 million dollar contract??? That's ridiculous. I told my husband, ok give it to him on these conditions:
1.) Batting Average stays above .350 the whole entire time!
2.) At least 50 HR per season
3.) At least 130 RBIs per season

The first time his batting average dips/he doesn't make the required HR or RBIs the contract is null and void, and he gets nothing!

Just my thoughts!

Baseball salaries start at ridiculous and go up from there. Then again, when Babe Ruth first got paid $100K per/year, people were shocked. One reporter asked him what he thought about a baseball player getting paid more than the President of the United States. Ruth replied: "I had a better year."

A team will pay A-Rod that kind of money, only if they think he is worth it. Worth it means that he brings more than that amount in terms of revenue from all sources. If he is worth it, then why begrudge him the money? For the Yankees, in terms of boosted attendance and TV ratings while he was there, it seems like they got a bargain.
