Just received an email from Getty Images that all web resolution images are now $49 each forever. Not a short term sale. Across all creative connections. Even rights managed images are covered.

It looks like they are feeling the pressure of the micro-stocks or trying to get into the lower cost market.

Opinions. Is the sky falling? What's next?

Feeling the pressure? They helped CREATE the pressure with the the aquisition of istockphoto.com

If folks aren't reading Harrington's blog and how this is killing Getty, you should be. GI, who controls a boatload of images, aquires a cheapo stock sevice. Now GI finds itself in a downward stock dive. Gee, I wonder why? Why would anyone pay Getty hundreds of dollars for an image when they can get the same from Getty for $49?

Seems like every time I look up the pickings are getting slimmer and slimmer.

Yep. Also, lots of album design and post processing is being sent overseas these days too for little to nothing.
