simple. on any solid state memory device, there is nothing that water can hurt. The damage usually comes from trying to "save" it, like cooking it while drying, taking it apart etc

Unless of course it is powered on as it gets dipped. Also leads, wires, and other metal components can and do rust or corrode.

Yeah I know that, but two years can led to rust and corrosion of parts....Not like it has been setting in a a tub of mineral oil for 2 years...

my point is, with gold surfaces (and nickel under that) there's nothing to corrode. even simple tin-lead solder will hold up that long.

as long as no one applies power during that time, it could last much longer.
