Technical Question Concerning JPG Files - 11-20-2007, 10:38 PM

Here's the situation:

I take an image on my Canon Rebel XT as a jpg file, send it through photoshop as an sRGB file, save it again as a jpg.

I'm now at work trying to put the CF card into a 40D sending it to a Canon Printer to print it as a jpg. The images don't display on the 40D.

The printer doesnt have an LCD to choose pictures from and I must use the 40D to display the images in order to send them to the printer via the usb cable.

Why isn't this process working?

because the camera doesn't recognize the processed jpg. I think your only alternative here is to use a card reader to send the image to the printer.

I can't do that because there is no way to select the image via the card-reader, which would be plugged directly into the printer.

Ahh...yeah. I don't have a good answer for you.

Granted, I'm not sure if I'm right, but I think I am....

I don't really get why the printer isn't hooked up to a computer? Are you on location in Mozambique or something? If so, how do you have internet access? All joking aside, the easiest solution is to hook the printer up to the computer and just print from the computer to the printer instead of trying to print from the 40d to the printer.

ditto as above, but the basic issue is that once the file has been resaved, whether edited or not, the camera can no longer display the image. This is common and in my experience goes all the way back to my 1st digital, a nikon coolpix and still holds true on my canon 10d as well.

the camera is pretty stupid when it comes to the files it can display (and therefore send to the printer directly). Once the file has been changed (resaving without any edits counts as changed), it becomes incompatible with the camera.
