Strange actions or reactions from HPD.

I don't see a problem. It can be imagined as a big brother deal, or viewed as an excellent tool to track down suspects, find missing children, and a lot of other things. The only people who need to worry about it are the criminals.

TXFZ1,

Please have ch 2 come out to your home and film all of your home security, for public display. CH 2 should have been wasting their time cruising neighborhoods filming burglars! and posting that, now that would have been benificial to all instead of a ratings scoop story like this.

Thanks!

First, it's the media and they embellished it for ratings.

Second, the skit just seemed wierd to me, one was HPD reaction. Why would they require the stealth in the first place and then put on a press release, like they got caught doing something. Why not just put this fancy camera in a helicopter?

What does my home security have to do with anything? When can I expect a $100 grand check from the citizens of Houston to pay for my home security and then you would have a right to see the heavy duty deadbolt.

Yes, I do have an issue with the police looking into my house with no reason. I have a right to privicy and they do not have the right without due cause. I forget where it's written, the bill of something.

"Looking into my house" what a joke!

Pretty funny, sorry but you are out of touch with reality! Keeping thinking that!

Put in a helicopter, now that is funny!

Bet it doesn't happen. The first time a 40# remotely piloted vehicle "breaks" and smashes into a residential area all he double toothpicks will break loose. Too much liability...

Using aircraft to catch speeders is nothing new, even if they haven't used it around here. The only thing really different here is that it's an unmanned craft and controlled remotely.

If you're not running dope or a chop shop, stop worrying about The Man watching you take a bubble bath. They don't have the time or manpower to sift through a 24-hr live stream of your private life. That's so absurd its comical.

I haven't seen a protest about the local Air Nat'l Guard swapping F-16s for Predator drones. Those have super-duper cameras and weapons! Egad! They might drop a torpedo in your swimming pool.

[/sarcasm]

The same could be said for choppers too, but they still fly.

mmm hmm... a good chopper pilot can "generally" put it down if it has all but a catastrophic tail rotor failure. A good "RC" pilot is going to lose spatial reference and the "drone" will end up dorking into whatever happens to be in it's way. Especially of the video feedback system fails.

Really, so an infrared camera cannot detect large heat sources in a house. Wow, who would of thunk it

Could be that the IR technology is so advanced that it can now see through the heat generated by a house and distinguish it from the heat generated by a person but the IR camera that we bought last year won't do it...
