buying a camcorder - 11-26-2007, 12:37 PM

Okay, are they not called "video cameras" anymore? The teenager at Circuit City looked at me like a complete moron when I asked about one. After a few questions though, I realized this kid didn't have a clue either. Does anyone have any reviews on a simple, inexpensive, point & shoot camcorder? It's for my 13-yr-old to record his mad guitar-playing skills...so it's not like I need the highest quality.

Thanks for any help!

The market is flooded with consumer grade camcoders all at a wide range of prices. Finding one for your purpose should be easy. You might consider checking CL. I've seen ads on there for units selling less than a $100 bucks.

My daughter has a panasonic p/s digital cam that will take some videos. Think she picked it up at wal mart last year with her Christmas money for under $100. Takes avi files limited to the memory card size. Not golden globe quality but would work for you I bet.

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/

This site has many reviews on camcorders and prices. Try looking at craiglists for a used one.
