Graphics card for laptop

Anybody know about how much they run and is it worth it to update a 3 year old computer?
Dhs just went out of warranty.
Go figure.
But it started acting up, we thought it was a virus but it isn't. Took it in after plugging it in an external monitor and it was the same way. So BB says that it is the graphics card. IS it worth replacing or should we just buy another?

Unless you have a higher end laptop like an Alienware then I don't think you can upgrade the video card. Most laptops have the card integrated into the motherboard. So since it is onboard there is no way to disconnect it.

At least that is my understanding of the matter.

I have seen graphics cards that work thru the PC card slot, how and how well they work is beyond me. But this was eons ago and I haven't noticed any recently.
