I think the LBJ museum is in San Marcos ?? Other than tubing the river (BRRR) that's all I know about it.

The LBJ Museum is in Austin at UT.
If it's a nice day, you could go over by the school and check out the waterfalls and springs where the San Marcos river begins. And there's a park called Aquarena Springs, with glass bottom boats and a swimming pig.

my thoughts exactly only there aren't any real bargains in either. Best deals to be had are closeouts and discontinued stuff at Sony. the Bose stuff is the same price as anywhere else. Depending on your shopping endurance it would be relatively easy to spend an entire day at the Outlet as long as you are into clothing.
there is food.....
Aquarena Springs no longer exists as a tourist trap (there is a God ). Texas State Univ now runs it, and altho I haven't been since the rescue, I understand it is quite nice. No more diving pigs or hot-plate dancing ducks, tho....the river might be a tad bit coolish at the moment for swimming/tubing, but there is lots of neat scenery.

I really like Aquarena. It's kind of weird in that all the old theme park rides are still there, but decaying and old, across the other side of the river. Good for some moody/spooky photography, maybe.
The boat tours are very good, you can see loads of fish and the springs on the riverbed. There's a new boardwalk as well which runs over the edge of the lake, from which you can watch more fish, turtles, birds, dragonflies etc in great quantities. And there's a small aquarium too.

I might have to go by there again, it's been a number of years since I've been inside. Quote: |
