Rodeo shooting - 11-30-2007, 06:50 AM

Ok,
So I have a chance to shoot a friends daughter (HA! That sounds bad) at the High School rodeo in Saginaw on the 14th. The problem though, is that I don't know what the lighting is like at a rodeo.
What would be a good lens to use at the rodeo, because I'll just reserve it today at Arlington Camera for that weekend. I'm thinking either the 100-400L or the 70-200 2.8, but I didn't know if I could get away with a prime.
Oh, and the body is a Rebel XT, so I have the 1.6 crop factor going on here.

Todd
Humm what time is the rodeo?
If it is after sunset then 70-200 L 2.8 for sure 100-400L would be nice but you will want too keep your shutter speed around 1000 & around 400 for hoof motionblur while tracking her on the horse. Turn the IS off it will only mess you up on some of these FAST moving targets.

I would say 70-200L 2.8 for over all play it safe lens.

I hope this helps and sure others will chim in also. Good Luck & Have Fun!

I may be wrong, but I think this rodeo is daytime and outdoors. If so, you just need to figure out the location of the sun (if it's clear).
It should be lots of fun. I've thought about going over there myself.
