Me, Pika and the Scene of the Crime ... - 11-30-2007, 02:44 PM

So this is actually a sequel to another post titled "Me, Pika and the Taste of Justice ..." but since I can't recall if I ever posted that here or not I will recap. But first ... the wavy lines and soft focus of remembrance:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was ... oh I'd say July of 2006 and it was hot. I mean naked, redhead hot. And I was still driving my black Grand Prix at the time. I was sweating like a fat chicken asked to dinner at Betty Crocker's house. Pika was too. You would have thought someone was juicing my little lemon flavored companion.
"Damn it's hot. Hey, you with the glasses! Turn on the AC you cheap bastard!" I had once asked Pika to please pay me the courtesy of learning my name since I was his care giver. He said if I wanted a name then I must also want a name tag. Little bastard.
"The AC is on."
"It don't feel like it's on! I'm sweating over here man. Open the windows I need air! I'm being dry cleaned in this damn car!!"
"Look, it's like 105 outside, the car is black and traffic is standing still. What do you want me to do?"
Then just around the corner came the answer to Pika's prayers: Dairy Queen. "Well the least you could do is buy me some damn ice cream. I demand ice cream. Don't make me play the race card!"
"Fine." Truth be told ice cream sounded like a damn fine and pretty dandy notion. So we pulled into the drive of the aforementioned DQ Country and see that there is one car in front of us in the lane.
"Ah, tight! I scream, you scream gim'me some damn ice cream!" Pika was just in lust over the notion of his foretold frozen dairy delight. "One car!! We are gon'na be creamy cool soon baby! Make with the cash Jeeves!"
So we pull up to the little order boxy thingy dealy in a matter of mere moments and I place the order for two vanilla chocolate dipped cones. And then we pull up behind the one, count them: ONE, car. And we wait.
"Mmm chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream." Now Pika is just muttering to himself in anticipation. "It's like Wayne Brady. Sure it's sweet and chocolatey on the outside, but it's safe and white on the inside."
And we wait.
"Yeah the cone is gon'na be good."
And we wait.
"Ok, what the hell is going on?!?! Hey, you! Go find out where my ice cream is!" Pika isn't burdened with the weight of patience. He says it makes him more aerodynamic.
"Look the people in front of us are waiting. So we are waiting behind them. I am not going to get out of the car and go see what is taking so long."
"What?!? You dare defy me? If I weren't so hot and angry I'd be irritated! At least honk. You can honk can't you?!?"
"Geez just ease out."
So what does Pika do? Well he leans out the window. "Hey you creamy fascist! Hurry up man, I'm melting into a little yellow puddle. And when has anyone ever wanted a little yellow puddle in the car?!?!?!"
So after some time, fifteen minutes to be exact, we see the car get a bag and they pull out. I pull up and I am irritated. Not insane.
"You know, we have been waiting a long time." I tell the not too smart looking teen girl working the window.
"Yeah, they had chicken fingers. We had to make 'em." She says as she hands me a chocolate covered vanilla ice cream cone. No sooner do I take it than Pika is at the window.
"Yeah well maybe next time you will use your public school education and ask them to wait around front!" He was insane.
"Yeah, we don't do that."
You could actually see the little bit of fur between his ears start to smolder. "Yeah well you don't ask for the money before giving the goods either skank!" And with the he jumps off my lap and presses the gas. And we are gone!
Yup. We stole ice cream.
So there I am steering with one hand and holding a hot chocolate covered vanilla ice cream cone in the other. "Let go of that gas pedal you little creep!"
"Did we make it?" Seriously, as if Dairy Queen is going to deploy their cybernetic pursuit vessels or something.
"Yeah we made it. But we only got one cone."
"Well yeah. I mean you got to get when the getting is good. Kenny Rogers says so. Now gim'me my ice cream."
"Your ice cream?" I was flabbergasted!
"Yeah, I did all the work. It's mine." Well you really can't argue with logic like that. So I handed it over and he sat in his seat gleefully eating his ill gotten treat. "Mmm ... who knew?"
Ok, why oh why is that I always have to ask? I can't just leave him to his own little twisted thoughts. I have to ask: "Who knew what?"
"That justice was vanilla flavored."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So that was over a year and one car ago.

Well this past Wednesday I had left the office late. And on that particular day I had no eaten lunch. So as Pika and I were whiling away the hours on Hwy 6 he declared "Dude, you know what sounds good? Ice cream!"

"Um no. The only place around here is Dairy Queen and thanks to you they probably have our faces on a wanted poster."

"Pft come on! It's been like 300 years. And besides ... new car. D'uh!" That my friends is a demonstration of pika time and pika logic.

"Fine. But you stay in the back seat." So I pulled in and placed an order for two chocolate covered vanilla ice cream cones. And we pulled up to the window. I paid for the cones, taking the time to see if there were any wanted posters. There were not. And eventually we got our cones. I pulled up slightly and was handing Pika the cone in the back seat when I hear the window slide down "Yeah that's what I thought you dairy flavored bastards!"

One of these days I am going to get a muzzle for him. But at least we didn't have to wait fifteen minutes time.

Prophet out.

One of these days I am going to learn not to read your stuff at work. My boss is calling and I can't answer cause I am laughing and have tears streaming down my face.
