I am tired of Firefox updates - 12-07-2007, 02:16 PM

It seems like there is a new update for Firefox almost every day and it is you have to update or it will eventually do it for you whether you like it or not.

It this just happening to me or is this normal?

I am on a Macs at work and at home and it happens seemingly almost daily.

I'm getting them too. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the beta release of 3.0.

I've got firefox and the NoScript extension. I'm getting updates sometimes twice a day. Hopefully they'll calm down in the next month or so.

While it briefly interrupts, it is still better than waiting for a special Tuesday of the month to fix vulnerabilities and problems while the hacker world is constantly busy.

That would be for security fixes. That is pretty darn important if you ask me...

When you get your update messages more than once and awhile for your OS or A/V app..I recommend uninstalling them too.. OSX, Linux, MS, or whatever flavor...

This is a joke.. Since I work in Information Security, I better be sure I clarify that.

It doesn't bother me personally. I'm glad to see they're staying on top of things.

Edit: Let me add that I don't get updates daily but more like a couple of times per week.

I'm not sure what I am doing, but I only get FF updates about 2 or 3 times a week...and I am on my machine daily. And even if I got them daily, FF still beats IE.

I thought everyone who used Firefox did so because it was perfect.

How can something that is perfect get updates 2 times a day???

Everytime I have tried to use Firefox, it is slow and buggy. I use IE because it works with everything I have.

Never seen 2 times a day ever. Something else is up if that is happening.

The most I have ever seen it occur is twice in a week. What you're probably seeing is not FIREFOX updating, its all the dang widgets/plugins that you have installed. Those are essentially separate applications.

FF slow and IE fast is something I never have experienced...ever. Although I agree that IE is preferable for many things... ActiveX based stuff especially... Too bad MS stopped supporting it for OSX.

I agree this is a bit much but considering how slow Apple and Microsoft are to produce software revs of a meaningful nature, I'll bet you would be a lot more unhappy if you got a piece of malware infecting your computer because Safari or IE7 didn't keep up with Firefox's ongoing security initiatives.
