CS3 - Refresh is Slow - 12-09-2007, 04:28 PM

I recently upgraded my PC, and upon a re-install of CS3, found that the redraw/refresh of an image is very slow, much more than on my other MB. The redraw I'm referring to, for instance, is when I'm zooming from 50% to 66%, there's a noticable delay before the images enlarges. Also when using the clone tool, it takes a full 2 seconds for the system to register that I've changed the reference point. THAT drives me nuts!

I'm sure it's some simple setting that I'm missing, maybe on my video card -- or in Vista, but I can't find it. A Google search didn't turn up much.

Note that used this video card on the previous MB with Vista and all was well. I've tried changing the settings in CS3 to no avail. I've got the latest MB and video card drivers. I have installed the latest CS3 updates.

I ran the benchmark test that Daniel posted awhile back and my system runs the test in 37 seconds, which is fast enough. http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ight=benchmark

The only thing that seems to plague the fresh install is the CS3 redraw/refresh. The system is very fast and stable in all other aspects. Any ideas?

System:

Abit IP35 Pro
Q6600 - OC'd to 3.4
4 GB RAM
NVIDEA GeForce 7600 GS - 512 MB - PCI-E
400GB HD - SATA
Windows Vista 32 bit
3GB RAM switch set in Vista

CS3 Settings: (I've tried adjusting these, and didn't see any change in either direction)

Available RAM: 2613 MB
Let Photoshop use: 1600 MB
History States: 20
Cache Levels: 6
Scratch Disk: C - Free Space = 163 GB

Any hep would be appreciated.

Perhaps you should try the Adobe Forum. I have found good information there.

That's funny, I'm so used to using this forum, I didn't even think about it....

Thanks Paul.
