Holiday Lights Display - Houston - 12-10-2007, 10:52 PM

Hey every peoples.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any light shows or displays around Houston for this season. Yanno, the ones where you can walk/drive through. Something like the annual Trail of Lights held at Zilker Park in Austin.

My girlfriend will be coming back from UT next week, and I'll only have about 5 days to spend with her before I leave for Thailand for the holidays. This is one thing I know she'd love to go to.

Help me out folks! I'm beggin' ya! Any other fun ideas welcomed!

There is what looks like a neat holiday village South of College Station on Hwy 6. I drove past it Saturday night coming back from Fort Worth, and people were lined up to get in.

Santa's Wonderland - http://www.santas-wonderland.com/home.html

We did this last year and had a complete blast. The little "village" after the lights was so much fun, fake snow, fake Elvis, kettle corn....what else could you ask for?

The line starts early and gets LONG...but it is worth the wait.

There is also something in Galveston.

Drive through River Oaks - always a cool experience this time of year.
One house even has a 30 foot angel that rocks!

Dickinson Festival of Light. Just east of the Gulf Freeway on FM 517. Park at True Cross Church take a free shuttle to the free light festival. Check out some photos at the meetup group shown in my signature. It is a great community effort and a great show.

You'll have 5 days with your girlfriend before YOU go on an international travel trip. One would assume it is a long trip. And you have to ask what to do in the 5 days? :p What is the youth of America coming to!

Not that it helps those in the Houston area, in the Killeen - Fort Hood area we have BLORAs Nature in Lights. It is a 5 mile drive, has a Santa's Shop for refreshments and a visit with Santa, and costs only $5 a car. http://www.hoodmwr.com/nature_in_lights.htm

not sure if the Prestonwood Forest subdivision is what it used to be, 15 years ago it was fabulous. Off 249 just north of FM1960, Willowbrook Mall/Compaq-HP area.
