Grrrrr! Toys R Us canceled my toys! - 12-10-2007, 11:42 PM

Grrrrr! Toys R Us canceled my toys! What the *&@%#&@!!! Grrrrr....They randomly canceled one toy - a Thomas the Train toy - which I can't find in town. They marked it down and it now says only available in the store. WE DONT HAVE A STORE!

Of course they are still shipping the rest of my order - which I ordered since I got this larger toy. Tomorrow morning is going to be a mad hunt for Thomas toys - which are long gone. Why would they pull the toy from the order? I placed it 3 days ago!!! Grrrr...

Holly,

I feel your pain! It's going to be a Thomas the Tank engine Christmas for us as well.
If you have one near you the "Day out with Thomas" train ride was a blast!

Jeff

P.S. I couldn't get the boy to turn around for a photo. The shock and awe of seeing a full sized Thomas was too much. I wish I could have captured the smile, he had it all day!

Hi Holly,

I believe some of the Thomas the Train toys were recalled due to lead in the paint.

Best regards,

That is correct. Here is a link to the pieces that have been recalled.

A "Day out with Thomas" comes to the Texas State Railroad once a year. Thomas travels year round to different cities that have passenger railroad lines. I'm sure he visits CO. as well. Do a search for day out with Thomas. It is an awesome event.

Edited to add: We just went to the "Polar Express" and it was awesome as well!

Holly, the toy your looking at is part of the travel Thomas set. All of the pieces are plastic and are a little smaller than the painted wooden pieces in the larger Thomas sets. None of the Travel Thomas pieces have been recalled as far as I know.

But.. with a recall on the other ones, the ones that haven't been recalled will be in higher demand.... and thus, probably hard to come by.

I feel your pain about Toys R Us. . . I went Friday to the store by my house and bought a swing set for my two girls for Christmas. They were ready to load it up right then and there, and I didn't have a truck. They are open til midnight now, so I told them I would be back that evening. . . my husband and his buddy who drove a hour to get to our house went to Toys R Us at 9:45, came home empty handed they had sold my swing set to another family and given it to them. So I went down there at 10:30 that night, and asked what the hell was going on they told me. And then told me that a shipment was on it's way in and they would give me a swing tomorrow. I told them that wasn't what I agreed upon, that they needed to give me my money back, and I would take it to Target or Walmart and get another swing. And while they were giving my money back they needed to get my corporate's number. They then offered to cut the price down to 150.00, I told them no, I wanted all my money back now or a swing NOW! So the manager tells me "how about 100.00 even, with tax." I said sure refund the rest of my money now. . . I'll see you tomorrow. I ended up with a 230.00 swing for 100.00. It is now sitting in my garage waiting to be assembled. . . yeah! But get on to them. . . they will try to make things right.

Check on Amazon.com. I have been able to find more things there that I couldn't find anywhere else.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I know how frustrating that can be as I ran into several problems last year. They were a little different, but very frustrating. Mine were with Nickelodian. Anyway, you might also check etoys.com. They have a lot of the hard to find toys in stock. They have always been really good about delivering on time.

Toys R Us seems to be the only online place that had this toy. Couldnt find it on Amazon. I usually order online via them and overstock.

And I have to say that you all are terribly sweet people. Thank you to everyone that PMed me to help me find this toy! I have some people looking for it today, so hopefully they'll grab one for me. Its not a hot toy - well for Thomas anyway.

I bought Thomas' Carnival thing (that had crappy reviews on Amazon) as the backup toy. Its the one he asked Santa for, but since the track is supposed to fall apart, I didnt want to give it to him.

I think Mike and I are gonna crazy glue it together on Christmas Eve. I can see it now...who do you think is gonna get glued to this toy???

LC76510 Sodor Mining Company is listed as a discontinued toy on a lot of the sites I'm finding like http://exclusivelythomas.com/takealongdiscontinued.htm
