How do you change Office key on a Mac.? - 12-13-2007, 02:27 PM

I need to change the Office registration key on a Mac and have no idea how to do it, any of you Mac gurus out there can help?

Long story short, my boss's son installed Office on 2 of our Macs but he used one key for both instead of 2 separate keys , which we bought for. Now if one office is running, the other one will get kicked off. I can hack the registry on Windows, but have no clue what to do on a Mac. Any help is appreciated.

Try deleting/dragging to the trash bin the following file:

your home directory/library/preferences/microsoft/com.microsoft.office.prefs.plist

After you have done this, open office as you normally do and it should prompt you for a registration code. The file listed in red is the one to get rid of, the rest is the path to get to it.

Thanks, I'll try it.
