Have y'all used Pay Pal for credit card sales? If so have you had any problems?

stolen credit cards
stop payments
or any thing that came back to cost you after your item was shipped?

I had a stop payment on a $950 eBay sale purchased with a credit card through PayPal. Neither eBay nor PayPal could recover the funds.

PayPal would not allow me access to information to pursue the CC company on my own, they are the 'merchant'. I don't use them anymore for CC sales.

yeah, thats what I was afraid of. I have a 700+ dollar lens for sale and a brand new member, from out of town, wanted to know about pay pal. I set up an account, then got to thinking that once that lens is shipped I am at the mercy of an uncontrollable third party. Not a situation I can afford or desire. Im not saying the new guy was a scammer it just made me stop and think.

thanks for your reply
Robert.

P.S. did I mention I had a nice 70-200 2.8 on the buy/sell forum.....LOL

You could set up paypal to not accept a CC transaction, it should be an option within paypal.

I saw that option. I just dont think I like the whole long distance, high dollar (for me) transaction thing....
thanks for the comments though.

Send me a check, let it clear and I will mail it... thats the way I like it, but then you have to trust me to send it.... man, those scammers sure make it hard now a days...

This is the only way I use Paypal...

PayPal is set up to benefit PayPal...no one else. If there are questions on a transaction invovling your account, they just take the money out of your account and you can't do anything about it.

I use it...only for personal dealings, nothing with my business. I have too many friends that have dealt with nasty issues using PayPal.

I use it... Not all that often.. But have had no problems. I use it to mainly to accept CC retainers on jobs... As soon I receive payment, I transfer the funds. I keep basically zero in the account and same with checking account it is tied too..

Bear in mind that fraud and other problems are a very small percentage of total PayPal transactions.
