Need body shop. - 12-26-2007, 03:12 AM

My wife was cut off the other day, and ended up putting her Trailblazer on it's side for about 10 seconds... Just long enough to break off the driver's side mirror, shatter the driver's window, blow out the back left tire and bend the rim, dent the rear quarter panel / front fender / driver's side door. Oh, and it also pushed the driver's side fender up and back just enough that the driver's door doesn't open anymore.

Well, now we need a body shop to repair the damage. Preferably one that also does motor work since the motor is smoking now (which makes me worry since it wasn't on it's side long enough to have oil seep anywhere... )

So... any recomendations? I am in the North Richland Hills area of DFW. I don't want to get f***ed in this, and I know that there are places out there that are known for their f***ing. I'm looking for clean work done right where I'm not going to be running into issues down the road. Someplace that actually repaints the whole vehicle so that the paint matches instead of just painting only the replaced parts so that some parts are "prettier" than others.

The only body shop I have ever used is in Aubrey, Lasting Impressions. And we own repair shop in Aubrey, Automotive Repair Center. We are 99% referral based. Not in business to make a killing or "sell" you something you don't need, known for honesty and are all family. I don't know anyone your direction, but one of my favorite customers is from NRH. I'll ask him tomorrow, if I remember.

I have used Caliber Collision Center in Colleyville and highly recommend them. I used another CCC in Lewisville once and wasn't as impressed. The Colleyville location takes a little longer sometimes, but excellent work and a lifetime guarantee.

It's close to you too!

I used CC in Fort Worth on 7th St. for minor damage a few years back. Autobahn BMW uses them for their repairs and recommended them. They did a good job.

Has your insurance given you an estimate yet? That almost sounds like a total considering your description and the fact that a lot of vehicles are unibody these days. I know nothing about Trail Blazers though...

I am just glad she is ok...It sounds like it could have been pretty bad...

Good luck!

Service King does extremely good work from what I've heard. There's one on Rufe Snow heading north on the right before you get to Mid-Cities Blvd...good luck!

I used Calliber Collision here in SA over the summer.. and if you have a few hours I can tell you the horror story of working with them!!! They do tons of business and so they must have some satisfied customers... But I am NOT one of them. Even the USAA adjuster that came out to re-adjust my claim (after 5 trips to CC) even said that he wouldn't recommend them if he had a choice... says something from a guy that works with them every day...

Each CC is independently owned, that's why I would only recommend the Colleyville location.

Now what's interesting about Service King is that I was told NOT to go to them. I thought about the dealer... but I don't trust Bankston.

Todd, I don't know if you are using insurance to fix it, but our insurance company gives recommendations. You might try that if you are using your insurance $.

I just had my wifes ( I think I see a pattern here) new car fixed at Eldorado Chevy in McKinney. They were refered by a friend that is an insurance adjuster. He goes to a lot of shops and said their work is better than most. I will say they did a great job. My better half knocked the whole front end off and it came out looking like new.

If you go the Service King route I found out that not all are equal. Some shops are a lot better than others. Ask if they are certified by your insurance company.

For dealers, there's also Texas Nissan of Grapevine and Grubbs Nissan in Bedford.

Keep in mind that alot of dealers send their body work out and don't do it themselves.
