New Year's Resolutions

Have you made any new year's resolutions for 2008 yet? What are they?

I have a few... well, some are more specific items than resolutions...

1. I'm going to set aside time to read the various photo magazines I get each week.. not gonna let myself fall months behind again.

2. I'm going to redo all my marketing materials.. biz cards, post cards, and flyers by the end of first quarter.

3. Get a better handle on taxes.

There are too many to list but my top priorities related to photography are:

1. Get my photo website up by mid January.

2. Learn as much as I can on CS3.

mmm i'm going to lose 30 lbs...or cut it off - but one way or the other, it's got to go!

read 1 self improvement book this year

shot more for my own enjoyment

read 1 photo book this year

get 2 classes done towards my BA (I have something like 9 classes to go)

take 2 photo workshops - 1 Photoshop and 1 photo rleated

I have a few personal ones, but the one that applies to TPF is :

Stop trying to offer an opinion on EVERY post. Keep it short. Keep it professional and not personal.

This time last year my resolution was to not buy any cameras or lenses.

I lasted until June.

This year, 2008, I will not buy any cameras or lenses.

I will make it through the year.

I am going to make a resolution to not make any resolutions.

1. Take 3 classes to finish and GRADUATE in May with BA in Education.

2. Finally start reading my stack of PSC and photography books.

3. Start, participate, and finish an online photography class that I have signed up for. (classes for #1 get all of my attention and keep me from enjoying the fun stuff)

4. Shoot with what I've got and make fewer photography related purchases.

i wanted to add one to mine above - cause it wasnt' enough.

this year - i'm making myself a calendar...not unlike a photo a day, but this will be 'something' every week.

whether it's spend a week with a 50mm lens,
or a week shooting shadows,
or silhouettes,
it will be some sort of study of something i like or admire -

i'm going to spend a week learning to make it work...or not...

2. Try to "live green" and be more earth friendly

3. Set aside more time for personal photography stuff

Mine needs to be, "Spend less time on TPF", but I doubt I will keep that very long.

My pet chicken has a few things she would like to cluck about that statement.

I would say lose weight, but might be better to say become healthier and get more exercise.

I have a goal of going on a two week backpacking trip with the Boy Scout troop I help with and in the condition I am in now, I wouldn't make it more than a mile. :(

I am also going to spend more time learning about photography and practicing every day.
