The guy doesn't know and isn't with it to look. I am trying to figure out if the lenses are compatible w/ my XTi. Anyone know what this is? EOS? *fingers crossed*

I was about to guess 'old'...

Any body style like that (no handgrip) is going to be FD (if Canon), not EOS.

A-1 was THE advanced consumer Canon of the early 80's. I would consider today's equivalent to be the 40D. If you are interested in collecting cameras, this is a good one to start with.
Along the same lines, the AE-1 series could be considered the Rebel's grandfather.

The gold "passed" JCII sticker is a dead giveaway that it's, well, old. They stopped putting those on gear (legitimately, anyway) in the 80's.
