Let's see. They're giving something back that should have never been taken in the first place, and then they're going to tax what they've given us. Unbelievable. Why can't they just settle on a flat tax or national sales tax? It would so much easier on everyone.

I don't know if you are right or wrong, but I'm interested in how you know this. If its a rebate of tax already paid, then it probably would not be taxable income. If its a gift, then its also not taxable. Of course, there might be a provision in the package which defines it as taxable. I haven't heard anything about this before, one way or the other.

Once again, it really isn't that hard to leave politics out of this now is it?

Well it looks like the stimulus package is going to work. It will give us an excuse to spend the money and maybe more. Spending money is what makes our economy work.

I'm going to get . . .out of debt! Well, mostly. We'll still have the car and house loans, but other than that, between my husband's bonus, this year's refund, plus this rebate, we should have absolutely no credit card debt!

A new computer!! My 6 year old Dell desktop CRASHED today. Now I gotta figure out how to get my files and pictures off the HD without it costing more than a new PC.

Duffy as I'm hearing he's right - it's similar to the advance payment/rebate they gave 2001 where you had to pay taxes on it the next year.

I also worked too hard and made too much, but this whole thing isn't a done deal yet. The Senate is looking to add some Pork to the package...
