I hope I’m not cutting off my nose despite my face, but here goes.
Long and sweet… I’ve spent the last few months working on my website which is aimed at creating a repository of sample photos from photographers around the world grouped in the most efficient way; which is by the lens that captured the image. Along with the orderly sorting of lenses with sample photos, the web passer-by will be able to easily, in a one-page view (from Opera, FireFox, IE6/7, Mozilla and screen resolutions from at least 1024X768 and up), see a slide image, short description of the photos, and the exif image data that I felt most important to display (camera model, f-stop, shutter speed, flash, focal length, artist, and copyright). If the user want’s to see a larger version of a particular slide, then it’s offered via the download arrow icon towards the bottom right (generally ~40% scale of original).
I decided to post this about my site today mainly because I’m averaging about 2 lenses a week from other photographers (mostly Flickr users). Here’s the lineup so far:

These are photographers from around the world (Singapore, Germany, Iceland, South Africa, South America, and New Zealand). I would like to know if any TPF user would be interested in participating???
The “nuts-n-bolts” or the trade-offs between me and the participating photographer: For starters the first photos for each lens will always be listed first and the contributing photographer has the opportunity to give a brief pros/cons about the lens (as shown in the first lens slide). Then each photograph has the photographer’s copyright/name/websites listed on every slide. Currently Google Analytics is tracking and average of 220 unique IP hits a day and a bounce rate of about 15%. In return, I gain traffic and monetization through Google Ads (not much, lately it averages about 60 cents a day). I just became a
B&H affiliate so via the “Buy this lens from
B&H” link I will close a 2% commission on sales and since inception (4 weeks ago) I have had no commissions.
Ultimately, I plan to have roughly 25-30 (no limit really) sample photographs per lens and just about every lens that’s currently reviewed on FM or SLRGear will be covered. Last, I’m fully aware that there are other avenues for users to find this data set and the best I’ve come to find is Flickr, yet even there it’s a lot of digging and sifting and a lot of times the exif isn’t clearly available if even at all available.
If you are interested, then let me know.
Thanks,
Roy
Oh, yea, it’s the “Review” link in my signature below.
