How would one go about

finding someone here in TX legally?
I ask cause dh has the resourses but if he were to use them for personal gain instead of "business" he could get into deep poooo.
But he really wants and old chief of his to do his reenlistment and we aren't sure how to find him legally.
Any advice?

and google, just search for their name.

If you think his home phone is listed in the directory, then go to www.whitepages.com and do a name search in Texas and you will find him. Whitepages is owned by AT&T and all public phone numbers are listed.

Breezy, The navy has a sailor finder website for use within the active duty ranks. Your husband should be able to utilize that. If the chief is retired he could look at the goat locker online and see if he has registered.

Crap his name is pretty common and there are tons of them

If his name is pretty common, you might try Google Images. Put the name in quotes. That way you can see if it is him or not. Sometimes people have been in the newspaper or some other publication will come up, which will give you an location to start working with. Just a suggestion.

it is of course a site where the person has to register themselves, so he might not be there if he hasn't registered

Emmit dh did that first thing unfortunately he isn't registered on there. He has found many shipmates on there though. :D

And would I be considered totally crazy if I just went down the list and asked if "he was a chief onboard the USS Juneau sometime between 94 and 98. It wouldn't bother me to do it, I know dh wouldnt' though he isn't an out spoken person. I am just wondering if I would be considered a phsyco lol.

I have had people call me with some question like that about 3 or 4 times a year. I don't mind saying no it is not me. So I would not consider you a wacko if you called me.

It might be easier to find someone who would know exactly where he is. Trying networking some of his bosses and such.

Thing is we haven't seen him since he left the ship. DH left in late 98 and this chief left before he did. I don't remember when either.
I have no clue who their bosses were and dh doesn't remember much of anything, how the heck he remembers how to get home sometimes surprises me. That boy has no memory what so ever.
I do have the details of 94, 96 and 97 of the ship, so I am sure there are some names in there besides the CO and XOs.
