How is Corpus Christi??? - 02-06-2008, 04:41 PM

I'm lookin to get out of town this weekend. I'm beach-sick and would like to see some water. Right now it's a toss-up between Miami and Corpus Christi. I've never been to Corpus before and was wanting to know how it is there/what there is to do this time of year there...and if the water is that sh!tty green-brown that Galveston is so famous for. Either catch a last min flight to MIA or drive down to Corpus from dallas...I guess I need to make my mind up by tomorrow night

It was when I lived there. It was also full of tar balls. But that was back in 1982-1983, so things could have changed. Miami beach is much nicer. If you really want the beach, go to Florida.

Still, I look back on my time in Corpus Christi with fond memories.

My sister has a condo on South Beach so I make it to Florida several times a year and was thinking of possibly doing something different.

Generally speaking, I like Corpus. I just didn't think too much of the actual beach. And I spent a lot of time on it, way back when. South Florida, San Diego, and Hawaii are my favorite beach areas in this country, and I've been to most of them. It's probably a little cool for San Diego (beach), though. The redneck riviera (Alabama, Mississippi) would be my next choice. Maybe a quick trip to Cancun is in order.

Personally I think Corpus sucks but I am sure you have figured that out lol.
Yes the water is that nasty brown color.
We have a huge fire going on right now and the ash is horrible.
As for things to do, I would say the aquarium and the LEX other than that nothing.
If you do head this way let me know :D

South Beach for certain. Better weather this time of year. Better beach but colder water.
A 29 yr old male rocket scientist may not care about all the cleavage, but I've never seen more than in South Beach.

Take your camera. Share when you get back.

The only other rocket scientist I know is Mike Mcqueathey (sp)....

Or consider South Padre if you want to stay in Tejas.

South Beach it is. You're absolutely right Cap'n...I have no interest in watching all that cleavage. If you get bored I have a GREAT recap of Memorial Day Week(end) 2006. Holy moly. If you like crowds, and three-seashell bikinis, South Beach is the place for Memorial Day. The 12x zoom on the Canon Powershot S series cameras works wonders.

Password is MIA (all but about 3 photos are work-computer friendly). I got to Miami a couple of days before my friends did so I drove down thru the keys for a few days and snorkeled in a couple of spots (had a brush with a Black Tip Reef shark). Anyways, back to the subject, there's a ton of photos that your average 29-year old rocket scientist would have absolutely no interest in. I'm far below average. My girlfriend (sunglasses are a MUST if you take one with you) has been with me on just about every other trip to Miami so the, uhhh, non-rocket-scientist type of photos have been very restricted since then I did, however, make it to Cancun for another Memorial Day. Yes, there is a God.

Funny thing is that I have a t-shirt that says "rocket scientist" on it. Talk about an ice-breaker.
