Stanford Folding at Home Project. - 02-08-2008, 08:38 AM

Hi all, I am here to talk about a cause I am in, Stanford Folding at Home.

No, its not laundry related. It is (in short) a computer program that mimics how a Protein in our Cells Fold. A Protein that Folds incorrectly makes a bad Cell...and a bad Cell is the foundation for terrible diseases like Cancer, Alzeimers, etc.

You just download the program and it runs in the background. I have it on all my computers.

I fold for our Grandma who just got diagnosed with Lymphoma Dec of 2007, my Uncle Mac who passed away at 29yrs old from Brain Cancer, and I fold for my 4 month old daughter, hopefully in her lifetime we can find a cure for these terrible diseases.

Hey Chris, I've been doing this as well, we have put together a 'team' at a software support site I run - www.ubbdev.com - we had a huge team in the grid.org cancer-fighting project, beating teams from all over the world to get into the top 30 (out of 10,000+) - Abel might consider doing something similar here.

Our current team is smaller, but we're making progress :)

Wow, another Folder! Thanks Allen.

Stanford Folding I believe is THE Biggest single continuous program in the WORLD. Millions and Millions of PCs and now PS3s are Folding for the cause...and we still have lots of Folding to do.

This is a testament to how amazingly complex the Human Body is.
