So, I have about 135 images on Airliners.net. I'm by no means a pro, but I have turned a coin or two through the site. Last week, someone noticed this little addition to the Terms of Use:

Quote:
Subject to your right to terminate your license to us as described in Section 5(C), you hereby grant Airliners.net an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, transmit, distribute, publicly perform and display (including in each case by means of a digital audio and video transmission), advertise in, on, and around, and create derivative works of the Content you submit or make available for inclusion on or through the Service, and to incorporate such Content into other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed, for purposes such as (but not limited to) promoting the Site or promoting the availability of such Content on the Site.

You also hereby waive any moral rights you may have under the laws of any jurisdiction in Content you submit or make available on or through the Service. While it is our general policy to include your name alongside your Content, we are not obligated to do so.
I'm seriously considering pulling my shots off the site. While I'd be thrilled to see one of my shots on a billboard or magazine ad, if some corporate entity got to keep the proceeds without even a photo credit, I'd be pretty steamed.

Needless to say, there is an uproar in the photographer community over there and the forum has been hopping with dissent. What say you?

I personally would pull my photos from that site immediately, and encourage everyone else to do the same. I would also be sure to send off an email to them to let them know that under no circumstances do they have the right to use your photos, and any copies that they may have archived are no longer their property as far as the copywrite is concerned. Make it clear that you do not agree to the new terms and that you want to terminate any agreement with them.

That sort of thing why I have never put my photos onto airliners.net! I prefer to keep my collection in the way that I want to manage it. They have got just too big, IMO. Those new conditions suck.

I heard that other photo storage places like Flicker and photobucket have the same type wording in their agreement, but Im not 100% sure on that, but its worth checking out if you have photos there as well

Keep them on but add your name in inconspicuous places like on the wings.
Maybe even add a face or 2 in the windows of the plane. One slip up with an incorrect slogan will fix that policy.
