Request for Use of Photos

Probably like many of you, I post some of my work on a few different photography websites. Occasionally I have received requests for permission to use some of my photos for various reasons. A few requests have offered payment, but most are for "not for profit" use, i.e., teachers wanting bird, flower or wildlife photos for classroom or presentation use. Sometimes the intended purpose requires a higher resolution file than posted on the website.

My question is: How do most of you handle such requests.

I can't offer too much help as I have only been approached once, by a dog forum hosted in Singapore. I told them they could pull a few images from my site unaltered, retaining my copyright and a link to my web site. That's a tough one, though, especially if you get into having to provide higher res materials. I would be hesitant to provide an image good enough to print without compensation. I'd rather provide a few small prints they could pass around, Without specifics I guess it's hard to say.
