New Knight Rider.... - 02-17-2008, 11:04 PM

....so what did you think? I liked it myself, having grown up watching the show and having my fair share of Knight Rider toys I was pleased at how the tied the past to the present. The Hoff as the end was a nice touch.

I liked it a lot. As a car nut and, of course, a fan of the original series, I thought they did very well with it. I just hope plenty of other viewers share my sentiments and gave it good enough ratings so that they see it fit to continue it with a weekly series.

ok, i'll fess up...i watched and was pretty excited about it as I LOVED Knight Rider growing up...

It was alright to me...i wasn't overly impressed but it was a decent thing to watch when nothing else really good was on...besides...anything I missed I can just watch on line later :)

I tried to watch it, but I just couldn't take it. It was bad. Real bad.
Now I like cheesy and campy type shows, but this new NR just sucked (imho).

I'll admit too that I was a fan of the old Series but not so much of this new one.

Granted I would love to have one of those mustangs but I am also a Die Hard Chevy guy.

IMHO this was nothing more than a 2 Hour Ford Commercial. I mean the GMC hitting that mustang and doing that kind of Damage was "Classic" If that wasn't a slap in GM's face I dont know what could be.

But what else could they have used for the car but a Mustang?? Since the new Camaro isn't out yet and GM doesnt have anything except the Corvette to compete.

I think if they stuck with the older story lines and didnt put so much of a "Love Story" into it than it might last.

I think what they should have done is have the "HOFF" drive off in the "OLD KITT" would have made it a nice touch to the "Commercial Side" of things.

Otherwise I think it was OK.

Well see if it flops or not I guess.

I liked it a lot.
The Mustang was a great choice, but I do agree that it was more advertisement than I usually like.

Can't argue with the Ford commercialism. Aside from the Yukon, it seemed as if nearly all of the background vehicles were 2008 Ford products.

They had a nice continuity error once when they showed the badguys riding inside the Yukon. Then they cut to an exterior shot of the Edge driving by, then back to the interior shot of the Yukon again.

I also thought it kind of funny at the very beginning of the movie when the badguys were in the K.I.T.T. garage. Before they discovered the new K.I.T.T., they were shining their flashlights across parts of the original. They showed a Tuned Port Injection intake. It just seems kind of low-tech for all that technological wizardry under K.I.T.T.'s hood.

I liked it and loved the car. Now if it had come out a year later, then the new Camaro may have been a good choice too, but I love the new Mustangs, especially the Shelbys.

I didn't watch it, but think that to stay true to the original, the producers should have waited until the Firebird returns (or at least a Camaro).

I would have liked to see either the camaro or the trans-am as kitt but with neither of those cars on the road yet would have totaly defeated KITT's ability to morph into different colors. I predict that the show will run the episodes that they have already filmed and then go from network tv to the Sifi channel or maybe USAnetwork, but much like the bionic woman I dont see it lasting.

Or maybe an invisible KITT, a la James Bond's ride in "Die Another Day," or maybe the old Wonder Woman TV series where her airplane was "invisible." Then maybe it wouldn't have seemed like such a Ford infomercial because you couldn't see the car!

The same critical remarks were aimed at the original show.. that it was a Pontiac commercial.... remember, they even made a special enhancement to KITT to make him a convertible the same year that Pontiac brought out the convertible Firebird.... and all the support vehicles were all GM products..... AND the bad guys *always* drove competitor brands.... don't believe me? Go back and watch.. its funny.

As for GM products that they could have used.. the Saturn Sky is an awesome little car... so is the Pontiac Solstice... they coulda done it, but Ford paid more.

lol, reminded me a lot of the same cheesy fights and drama. Lol, don't get me wrong, I LOVED IT! I went looking for it as soon as I saw this thread. It looks like Chevy used up all their advertising money on Transformers, lol. I do love that Camaro, but the new KITT did have some awesome features. And in case you missed it, NBC is posting it online
