So are we all Artsy types that listen to Goth? - 02-19-2008, 11:09 AM

I was listening to Boby Bones this morning, and the subject of photographers came up. One of the guys asked if all photographers are creepy, to which Bobby said we are. He said he knows a bunch of photographers and they are all artsy and listen to techno and goth. lol So I guess I should start listening to that and acting all artsy fartsy...

I listen to everything from Bob Marley to Primus. But I do have a special love for techno/progressive/house. Heh.

Everything from J.S Bach to Kraftwerk and Nighmare on Wax. So that makes me What?

I do prefer the term 'artist' to 'photographer' for what I do.

Being called creepy by a DJ is like being called ugly by a frog.

It just doesn't bother me.

Did you ever hear the "Tokyo 1981" Beethoven intro from the movie A clock work orange?
Kraftwerk is awesome.

I would have thought that Stovall's classical tastes ran even further back than Bach -- at least to Praetorius, and possible to Perotin and the Gregorian chants. I would also have expected a smattering of madrigals and renaissance music too. But maybe you were just illustrating the point.

BTW, does Phillip Glass or Steve Reich count as proto-techno? If not, why not?

No but being both a Kraftwerk and Kubrick fan I must look it up. I have Clock Work Orange on DVD.

Thanks for the tip.

I listen to Roy Orbison and Marty Robbins. Well, I don't actually hear them, I listen to them on LP's and 8-track.

lessee....Some Gregorian chants....various Vivaldi, massive amounts of Mozart, bunches of Bach, Handle, a bit of Beethoven, Straus....it kinda peters out until Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller....then some Hank Williams (the one and only), misc Sun Records stuff, Les Paul, Bill Haley, Beatles, Stones, anything 60s, everything late 60s and early 70s, Doors, Outlaws, Its a Beautiful Day, Joe Cocker, Led Zep, Black Sabbath...and a whole mess of 80s stuff that just embarasses my kids. Some 90s bits and pieces, including some dance/club stuff (ever hear d'yer maker in club/dance format?) and techno.

that's it until something new comes out.
