Vista for beginners - 02-19-2008, 04:07 PM

All the Vista haters just shut your complaint box and move along!

If you're like me and still trying to get used to Vista's new interface then I have a website for you. http://www.vista4beginners.com

They have some very neat tutorials, hidden tools, and great tips. BTW...I have no affiliation, just trying to help other Vista users that want to learn.

I haven't had a problem one since getting a Vista machine back in November.

Plus... the scalable thumbnail size slider is way better than anything Windows had before.

Well... it's time to get back in the game.

Vista isn't all that bad. I've had it for almost a year now. And the issues are going away slowly. I guess it just depends on how much patience you have.

Same here Jason. Got my Dell Notebook with XP Pro but wanted to try Vista. Haven't looked back.

most of the issues, real and imaginary, are with upgrades. And those issues are more likely to be 3rd party driver issues, not basic Vista issues.

our little notebook came w/Vista and it has been flawless. Most folks who bought Vista pre-installed on an existing machine have had few problems.

Great point, Ken. I'm a huge fan of the 'clean install'. Try to avoid upgrading at all cost. In the long run you will encounter fewer problems.

Shoot - I'm running Vista Business on a seven year old Gateway (P4 1.8gz). The only three upgrades I did - increased the RAM to a gig, changed the video card to an ATi Radeon 9550 and the soundcard to a CreativeBlabs Audigy SE. Office 2007 runs faster under Vista than it did under WinXP, and Photoshop CS3 runs as fast.

Given the security that's built in, especially for laptops, I'm personally impressed with the efforts of Microsoft.

'course...it helped that both Vista Business and Office 2007 were free - I particpated in two Microsoft events and the above was the give away for my time (a whole four hours...)
