I was watching the news tonight on the Obama/Clinton trips to Texas, and I spent all my time looking at the camera equipment that the photogs were using. Lupe finally told me to quit going; "Oh! Oh! Look! that guy's using a D3!" Plus I was looking and spotted a bunch of the Secret Service guys I work with, in between someone's WHITE LENS getting between the TV camera, and the guy using a D3.

That's why I love TIVO, rewind and pause to look at the equipment. It drives my family crazy.

Yeah it's so rare to see Nikon equipment, that a TIVO is a must just to be sure it wasn't a mirage.

I AM JOKING!!! Seriously...Just couldn't help it! LOL

At least that guy will get a clear AI-Focused image... <frown>

Weird how I never noticed before, but now any big events on TV with photographers, first thing I look at is their gear, and by gear I mean their camera equipment, not the speakers or main person(s) of the event hehe.

Well, it's kinda hard not to notice all those darn white lenses. I guess that's why Canon does that. I always like to be unobtrusive when out with my camera, but for those guys, it doesn't matter.

I don't. I notice the female correspondents first. I mean, I wonder how well they'd look as models.

It's interesting that Canon has such a strong hold in the US because if you look at any European event on SpeedTV or similar channel or shoot with anyone from Europe and you will find that Nikon has about 80% of those markets.

If you really want to drive yourself crazy, try watching last nights episode of Nip/Tuck.

Yeah, I went to see Chelsea today on UNT's campus...I was there 45 minutes early, but I didn't care...I watched the photogs. Two Nikon shooters out of all of them. One had an 80-200 and another had a 70-200. The rest were Canon shooters, majority with L lenses and a couple of people w/ press passes and consumer lenses and digital rebels.

I will admit (not getting political), I was more interested in the Secret Service and the photogs.

canon makes their sports lenses white so they won't get as hot in an outdoor setting.

Do you think the cost of "lenses" could be determining their purchase? or could it be the cost of the body?
