Had a h*ll of a phone conversation today. - 02-19-2008, 09:30 PM

Had to talk to a father stationed in Iraq, and tell him that his eight year old daughter had been sexually abused by two different men. Tough call, and I had to talk to his commander, but I made the promise, that if at all possible, the scumbags WILL go to jail for this. I try really hard to keep those promises. He's over there keeping us safe, the least I can do is move heaven and earth to take care of his daughter for him.

May they rot in jail. And perhaps take a bit of "abuse" themselves.

What a terrible thing.

I hope you do get these scumbags and they go away for life without the possibility of parole. Let see how they like it in prison where they'll be objects of molestation for other scumbags.

I can't imagine how tough that phone call must have been. I am sorry that evil like this exists that requires such an action by you, but I am glad that you are there to do it, and I pray that promise never ends up empty.

I would say just catch the two bastards, and send them over there to the father and let him do what he will with them all the while saying that you can't find them, and that they must've jumped the border into Mexico.
I know that would be the greatest gift that could be given to me if I was the father of a molested child.

Hey Murph, I can not imagine doing the job you do and although I know things like this happen everyday it is so heartbreaking to hear. That little girl will never be the same and for her father he will probably blame himself for not being there to protect her even though he should not think that way. The only people responsible for this happening are those that did it, I have no sympathy for people that abuse children. I will keep them and you in my thoughts and pray that you find those that did this and bring them to justice.

Ugh... that has to be one of the most gut-wrenching things to tell another human being. I can't/don't want to imagine the intestinal fortitude it would take to tell someone face to face or on the phone that kind of news.

I know that I have very specific mechanisms that I use to get over much of the traumatic things I get witness week in and week out, but there are still some things that bother me a great deal.... I would imagine the same would be true for you Murph.

Having been on the recieving end of a similar call I can tell you it's tough news to take. The toughest part is being 8,000 miles away and feeling helpless. There's a lot of good people in LE and the judicial system to help families through this kind of stuff. The sentences are never as tough as you want them to be. But even the toughest senence won't change what's already happened.
You really should thank the people who deal with this everyday so we don't have to. It has to take a heavy toll on your soul and family.

Prayers sent for the little girl, her dad, and the rest of the family. I can't even imagine how hard that must be for them. I'm glad there are some good guys like you that are helping them.

I would not want to have had to do that. This is one of my reason for the death penalty to be expanded; crimes against children.

Hey Murph. Remember the Dad at the pay phone in Louisiana a bunch of years ago? Uh huh... that's what I'm saying...
