I didn't know Harry, but a friend from church worked with him. My daughter is a RN in the ER at Hermann, and I took her to work on Monday she showed me a Precinct 6 car and said someone sat outside in Shock ICU 24/7. This morning the car wasn't there, and I had a bad feeling.

That is a real shame. He hung in there for so long that I thought that he would recover. This is precisely the reason that you can never pay Police Officers too much.

Ditto Tim,
that's the reason I never say no to organizations like the 100 Club, that help families of fallen officers.

Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Cr*p, it never gets easier. When the dispatchers give their final farewell, it always tears me up:

"S.O. to Unit xxx"

"S.o. to Unit xxx"

"Unit xxx is 10-7"

(10-7 Off duty/End of Watch)

and then the bagpipes play "Going Home" or Amazing Grace, and I always start to tear up.

Tragic, indeed.

The funerals never get any easier, I never thought I would have attended as many as I have over the years. Family is family, no matter what color the uniform is. There has always been petty bickering among the troops, but when your getting your butt kicked or your g-ride is wrapped around you, I know I could care less who it is that shows up. I was working and I know the guys were hauling butt to get there and when it came time to ship him to the ER the roads were clear into town thanks to numerous agencies blocking traffic. I am not a bible thumper but I keep a few versus in mind cause I know I would rather live and believe, rather than die and find out that not believing was a mistake.

Matthew 5: 9 and 10

9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 25:21

"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Rest in peace Deputy Constable Harry Thielepape
