Perhaps I should have cranked up the light a bit more? Light is coming from the left side using a Canon 580EX II mounted on a small table stand provided. Strobe was set on manual mode at 1/16 power about a foot away from the Lightbox.

What was used:
Canon 30D
Canon 580EX II
Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM Lens
1/160 second
F/5.6
44 mm
100 ISO
Pocket Wizard II

Donnie

Care to share your creation with is. I want to do the same thing and would love to see designs other members came up with.

THANKS!

i'll post pictures of it later but my box is a small one - i used foamcore cut into 13x16 pieces for sides, top and back, i had an old shoe stand (one of the bright white ones from walmart) that i sat it on for the bottom and right now flash is coming in from front -- did not cut out side holes yet...i'm still "rehabing" it and i'll post finished photos later - it was a quick 20 min build.

I built my make-shift box last week, this is one of my favorites so far.

This was the start of my 10 minute hack job on my Light Box. About an hour later I made the cutout on the top a lot wider, used tracing paper as a diffuser on the top, left, and right cutouts of the box. I used white poster board on the inside and rolled it just slightly outside the front of the box.

The strobe is a 580EX II with a Photoflex Shoe Mount mounted on a Manfrotto 001B light stand. I use 2 Pocket Wizard II for the trigger.

My lightbox is almost exactly like Justin's. I'd post a pic, but I'm about to head out of town. . .just getting one last TPF fix in before I go ;)

If you have to go buy the supplies (box and tracing paper and posterboard) the whole thing costs less than $5 if you use a med sized box.

I have heard the recommendation in the past to use the non printed side of a grocery store plastic bag as diffusion material.

I have done it once, and from what I could remember it works great.

Another more expensive option, but very versatile
http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...COL=100&RN=129

15 bucks gets you a sheer "Door Panel", and you can drape it over several surfaces of a box at once

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

This is very true! I was using both tracing paper and plastic bags. Just gotta make sure not to over stretch the material as you tape it to the box.

Why wouldn't a translucent plastic storage container work? It's already a box shape and has the translucent quality of a sto fen flash diffuser. Just put you material or poster board inside on the back and bottom and shoot.

Comments?
