For those admiring the gear on the sidelines... - 02-21-2008, 01:53 PM

Since we often joke about paying more attention to the photogs on the sidelines than the actual game, I though someone would enjoy this.

Here's a video from Reuters giving us a glimpse into the process involved with shooting the biggest football game of the year. Interesting to see how the images go from photographer to editor to client. Those little computers are cool. :)

That was interesting indeed. "...shooting ASA 640, 4/30th second 2.8..." WTF? 640? Does he mean ISO 6400? That's insane...I wonder what the pay is like...

I guess his Mark III's focus properly. Like mine did prior to Canon getting ahold of it.

Funny thing.. My company just bought Reuters... final deal is done in April. Wonder if I could switch divisions and jobs? LOL

FYI - it was ASA 640 (ISO 640) to ISO 800, 1/640th, F2.8 4700k WB/color temp.

How do you determine the color temp? Like, how did he know it was 4700k? Experience or some type of meter?

Andrew, I was going to say the same. Just who do you work for? I have been with Thomson for 15 years.

I've gotten the color temperature from SID's at colleges on request for their lights, and it's part of the "media kit" for larger games... Of course you have to balance for ambient if it's a retractable or open stadium...
