I'm really interested in finding out how this accident happened. I've been riding for over 30 years and can't see anything in the photos that would apparently cause a problem. There aren't any bumps or slick spots and the traffic was all going the same way. This just confuses me and I want to know what happened so I can be on guard and not let it happen to me.

We lost a couple of constables in Houston doing funeral precessions, which is basically the same thing as escort duty, but they were struck by cars.

When they invent the disintegrating ray gun, I will be 1st in line to get one so I can zap all the insensitive people who try to cut intio funeral processions.

It's reported right in the second paragraph of the story but in essence - The officer, traveling at a high rate of speed, got to close to the curb of the road he was traveling along, struck it and was thrown from his motorcycle as he lost control. Human error.

I haven't see any reports of how the accident happened in detail. If it is true that he was traveling at high speed, that means that he failed to negotiate a curve near where his bike lay stopped or he was trying hard to slow for one, depending on which way they were going.
I see alot of possibilities for pilot error, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions, even if they look obvious. Sometimes stuff happens.
