Definitely not your everyday handgun by far, 40g bullet at 2100fps with 379 ft-lbs of energy, compared to a .45 or a .40 the ballistics are quite nice and with less than 1/2 the felt recoil of a 9mm

45 ACP- 230 grain JHP
Velocity: 872 ft/sec. Energy: 389 ft. lbs.
165 grain JHP
Velocity: 1014 ft/sec. Energy: 377 ft. lbs.

40 S&W-180 grain JHP
Velocity: 972 ft/sec Energy: 377 ft. lbs.
165 grain JHP
Velocity: 980 ft/sec. Energy: 331 ft. lbs.
155 grain JHP
Velocity: 1079 ft/sec. Energy: 401 ft/lbs
135 grain JHP
Velocity: 1116 ft/sec. Energy: 373 ft. lbs.

Sweet. Let us know how it shoots.

I'm just getting ready to load up some .45 super. It's like a .45 ACP on steroids. 800 ft-lbs of energy. I have the dies all set up, but I haven't quite gotten around to actually loading the ammo. Check out the ballistics.

Good looking ballistics, be careful with the max loads though, I assume you're working up to em and not just going whole hog right?

Yeah, I always start low with handloads, especially something like this. I'll be using a 6" aftermarket barrel in my G21, along with a much heavier recoil spring. I've been researching this for quite some time, so I'm fairly confident about the direction I'm going in. Now I just need to allot some time for reloading....been busy with other things lately.

We'll see.....

Good luck with them, I used to load max loads up for my Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum. favorite was a XTP 125g with 22g of Hogden H110. Not too many revolvers that load was safe in but the GP100 was one of em, 125g bullet @ 1900fps for just over 1000ftlbs .. it wasn't fun to shoot truthfully, but it was so damn amazing.

I never chron'd my rounds back when my reloading bench was actually set up in use so I can't provide velocity or energy data.

.357 loads were 13.5 grains of blue dot under a 158 grain jhp.
.44 mag loads were 24 grains of 2400 under a 240 grain jhp.

I'm not sure I like the idea of a high-velocity .22 in a semi-auto and would be interested to know if you ever experience any feed issues.

The only FTF issues they have are the same ones as a 1911, if you limp wrist it, it will FTF. People have put 25k+ rounds through em with the only failure to feeds being a bad lot of ammo last year and limp wristing.

I seem to sell a lot more ammo for the Five Seven than I do guns...Probably because our range bullet traps are limited to 2000 fps...It seems to be one of those "I got to have it but don't know what I'll do with it" guns......Ben

Went out to Hot Wells shooting range on 290 yesterday and put 50 rounds of SS197SR through it and it was flawless, trigger is nice, recoil is easily as light as they claim, and its accurate.

Mike, a google search turned up an article in Shooting Times. Very nice. Glad to hear FTF is pretty much non-existent although I'm not sure how someone could "limp-wrist" something with such inherently little recoil to begin with.

Anyway.., it's on my list now.

Maybe have a TPF firing range day. I'll break out one of my handguns and have a little fun. My wife would probably want to smoke some brass also.
