But what will this new company do with the images and what it has paid all of this money for? What is their motive behind acquiring Getty?

Most likely break it on different parts and sell them off.

Their objective is to make a profit. Or maybe its a strategic move for a later buy out?

But as JohnT said earlier, this move doesn't appear to be a profitable venture for any organization with the move away from printed material.

I just think it's not an obvious money maker just yet.

edited: maybe 305 Mil. is manageable.

It was a money maker and it isn't now.

By taking it private, the various part of Getty can be sold and modled into different business models.. New businesses, that's what investment companies when they take public companies private.

Getty does a lot of things other than images.
